I’m an oil painter working in landscapes, seascapes, still life, and portraiture. I grew up in Oakland, California with parents who both loved art. My father was a working artist — a sculptor and stained glass craftsman who created everything from lamps and panels to jewelry boxes. He also taught stained glass classes, and I often went along to help him set up. While he taught, I would wander the art department halls and peek in on oil painting classes, quietly taking it all in and wondering if I could ever do that.

It wasn’t until 2009 that I began taking art classes, and from the very first brushstroke, I knew I had found where I was supposed to be. Ever since that moment, I’ve been learning as much as I can about the art form of Oil Painting. Working in oils allows me to explore form and light, texture, movement and emotion in ways that continue to challenge and inspire me. It’s a life long journey!

Whether painting a wild coastline, the expressive eyes of a face, or rugged mountains, my goal is to please the viewer. I choose to paint nature in a real and present way and paint with color that pleases the senses. From the beautiful colors found in nature, the grandeur of craggy mountain ranges, the constant motion of the ocean,to the way waves break across the beach I find what calls to me. I have been influenced by Sargent, who paints with motion and Ander Zorn, who paints with a limited pallet.  Incorporating these styles enables me to express the movement and brilliance of what I see in life.

I currently accept commissions and love the opportunity to create personal, meaningful work for clients — whether it's a portrait, a favorite place, or a special memory captured on canvas.
